For today's second in a series on my Reflections After 20 Years as a Holistic Psychiatrist, I want to highlight three interventions that I don't use anymore and why. Leaving these tools behind reflects new beliefs or a change in the healing paradigm that I've gained over the years.
A big thank you to those who attended the Energy Healing Conference! I really enjoyed preparing for the presentation and hope that you left with a hopeful heart.
Enjoy the nice weather!
Three Interventions That I Don't Use Anymore
Reflections After 20 Years as a Holistic Psychiatrist
In the world of both functional and energy medicine, there are thousands of different products, companies, and certification programs that claim that they are the best.
After two decades as a holistic psychiatrist, I've found some common interventions superfluous and/or unhelpful. Here are three top interventions that I generally don't use anymore:
1. Tapping/EFT: Gasp! It simply takes too long. There are faster ways to do energy work that are powerful and efficient. I prefer using my short, effective technique called Empower Energy Technique (EET) to do most of the work I need from session to session.
But if I really need a lot of healing, I will use my Infinite Intention Technique, which is super powerful and versatile. The key is to connect to "Life Energy," then allow it to flow into your life and do the work for you.
2. Adrenal gland supplement: More often than not, adrenal gland supplements make my patients more anxious. It's never just made them more stress-resilient. I've stopped hoping that it would. I don't even know how other clinicians get good results from adrenal gland supplements.
What I've found to be very helpful for stress-resilience is using liposomal Co-Q10 + PQQ and liposomal NAD+ nutritional support. This helps my patients have more mitochondria and energy for proper functioning.
Best of all, they don't get more anxious. In fact, they will become less anxious. Also, taking antioxidants in the form of essential oils or astaxanthin can be very helpful as well.
3. Conventional psychotherapy: Another gasp! I don't believe conventional psychotherapy is as efficient or effective as psychotherapy that integrates energy medicine. In fact, I think using conventional (psychodynamic) psychotherapy compared to psychotherapy that incorporates energy medicine is like using a horse instead of a jet plane.
Sure, it's important to talk, listen, and build a strong, trusting therapeutic relationship, but the key is to heal the emotional wounds at the subconscious level and be able to move on with one's life. This is where energy medicine does its superior magic.
As a psychiatrist who has experienced psychotherapy from both ends (giving and receiving) and has trained in both modalities, I think psychotherapy that incorporates energy medicine has superior outcomes.
The only factor that would interfere with the effectiveness of psychotherapy combined with energy medicine is if the patient isn't open to using energy medicine techniques. Then, it's back to using the horse and buggy for the patient.
So rather than seeing a psychotherapist weekly for years to realize the existence of a problem, how much of a problem there is, and why it's a problem, one can visit a therapist who does energy medicine and resolve the problem in a few months. Some therapists who use energy medicine techniques are found on the ACEP Website.
Hopefully, these insights can direct you to sources that will help you to heal faster and more effectively.
