Hello there!
Is there any doubt that bravery, perseverance, authenticity, and vitality can help us create healthier, happier, more fulfilling lives? How do we begin to build and strengthen these qualities within ourselves?
Is it a matter of “either you have them, or you don’t”? Or can we grow positive qualities through desiring them, understanding their value, and choosing positive change?
I’d like to think it’s a matter of valuing and choosing, rather than one of one’s genetic lottery.
The reason Emily and I are toiling through a thick, dry, encyclopedic book on character traits is that we believe these traits are central to creating true happiness and fulfillment in life, which can’t come in a pill. And, no matter how much power or money we have, they can’t be bought or coerced into being.
Spiritual matter seldom follows the same rules that govern physical matter. Most of the time, it seems to me that the rules and principles that govern spiritual vs. physical matter are paradoxically opposed to each other.
Love doesn’t decrease as we provide it to others. Peace can’t come from eliminating or murdering those who bother our peace. And fulfillment can’t be bought, sold, or given away, even if it’s a prize with a medal attached. Everything is a process when it comes to spiritual matters.
When one struggles with psychiatric medication withdrawal, it’s important to know that one is more than a biochemical machine. We cannot lose that which we ARE at the spiritual level, even if the mental, emotional, physical, and social have been harmed by medications or medication withdrawal.
Here is where our discussion begins to support a person’s well-being, when it seems as if all has been lost. Listen to the podcast for an enriching discussion that can go on to influence your physical recovery.

Also, a heads-up on my new website with its amazing bright and sophisticated layout. Come and take a look! My media manager said that, to create it, he had to move over 500 pages of data! I had no idea my website had so much free material. There are many timelessly helpful articles, recordings, creative writing, and podcasts available there. I hope you will also let others know about holisticpsychiatrist.com so they can benefit from its resources.
Have a wonderful week!

How to Create the Good Life Series
What does it take to build a more fulfilling life? In the latest episode of The Holistic Psychiatrist, Dr. Alice Lee and Emily explore four important character strengths: bravery, persistence, integrity, and vitality.
Drawing on the Character Strengths and Virtues handbook and their own experiences, they discuss facing fear, persevering through life’s challenges, living authentically, and finding ways to stay connected to life during difficult times.
They also reflect on emotional resilience, psychiatric medication withdrawal experiences, the value of supportive relationships, and why recognizing our own strengths can be an important part of personal growth.
Listen to the latest episode and join the conversation about courage, well-being, and what it means to build a good life.
