1. How do I contact Dr. Lee-Bloem?
The best way is to call my office: 301-260-9180. I will usually be able to call you back within 24 hours. Please leave your telephone number twice. Also, please leave a contact number for both day or evening. If you just want to leave a message, call: 301-802-4474. Please do not use e-mail as a way to contact me.
2. Will I be able to get better with the use of supplements and energy medicine?
Most patients do get better. Why can’t you? Nutritional support and energy medicine are extremely powerful and effective tools for eliminating signs and symptoms of mental illness and will assist the body’s own ability to heal itself. By adding these fields of expertise to the healing process, I have been able to heal many chronic psychiatric disorders and help patients get off medications without significant withdrawal symptoms. But even easier and faster is the healing of individuals who use holistic treatment as their first line of treatment.
3. What are the costs of treatment?
The cost of treatment is $300.00/hour, billed at 15 minute increments. Insurance companies will partially reimburse your sessions if you have an insurance policy that covers for out-of-network physicians. Patients pay at the time of the appointment, receive a bill at the end of the session, and can send their bill to the insurance company for reimbursement. The insurance company will mail the reimbursement check directly to the patient. I do not accept Medicare, Medicaid, or Tricare insurances. HMOs will not be able to reimburse for out of network physicians. However, insurances with PPO coverage will typically cover for a part of the sessions.
4. How long are your follow up sessions?
Generally they last between 1 to 1.5 hours in duration.
5. How is this holistic approach different compared to the conventional psychiatric approach?
a. A conventional psychiatric approach temporarily suppresses symptoms of mental illness with the use of prescription medications that cause physiological dependence and tolerance, while increasing the patient’s level of toxicity, in exchange for temporary symptom relief. Suppression of symptoms give the patient a false sense of being “healed.” However, without the medication(s), symptoms of the underlying mental illness plus withdrawal side effects soon ensue, leading to an endless cycle of dependence on doctors visits and prescription medications.
b. A holistic psychiatric approach treats the symptoms of mental illness with methods that facilitate the body’s own natural ability to heal (nutritional supplements, proper diet and detoxification, psychotherapy, and energy medicine). Symptoms resolve as the underlying physiological imbalances/defiencies and past emotional traumas are healed. Patients learn how to handle stressors and to maintain well-being on their own. Once symptoms have resolved, patients are free to move on with their lives without a dependency on doctors, armed with the tools they need to remain well.
6. What is your success rate with patients using this treatment?
The success rate is excellent, and continues to improve. The biggest difference for the rate of healing is whether the patient begins treatment with or without prior exposure to medication. Patients who start holistic treatment as a first line form of treatment, prior to using prescription medications, will generally take less time to heal.
7. How long does it take to get better?
Generally, patients start to feel better during the intake appointment and continue to noticeably improve from week to week. Patients generally gain resolve, momentum, and enthusiasm for the holistic healing process, because they can feel the benefits of treatment on their improved state of well-being. Most patients are able to reduce their medications, or come off medications through holistic interventions.
8. What is your attitude towards conventional psychiatry and prescription medications?
Health and well-being without a need for prescription medications is true health. I am interested in helping patients obtain true health.
9. Are you Board Certified?
I am board certified in holistic and integrative medicine through the American Board of Integrative and Holistic Medicine.
10. What are your hours and do you work on weekends?
Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
11. Where is your office located, and what if I want to see you, but I live in another state?
My office is located in Rockville, Maryland, about 30 minutes north of Washington, D.C and 30 minutes south of Baltimore, Maryland.
I require regular face-to-face appointments. If you live in another state, I can provide phone consultations that will help guide you towards a better clinical understanding of orthomolecular and energy medicine, but I will not be able to provide long distance, personal clinical treatment by phone.
12. What is the general duration of treatment?
I will be able to give you an estimate on the duration of treatment after an individual health history evaluation, which can be done by phone or face to face.
13. Can I pick and choose my treatment approach and the frequency of follow-ups?
Treatment approach and the frequency of follow ups will be based on what is best for you medically and psychiatrically.
14. Is energy medicine going to conflict with my religious beliefs?
Not at all. Energy medicine supports the principles and practices of many spiritual traditions that people have learned through worship and religion. Energy medicine demonstrates unequivocally that forgiveness heals, that your thoughts have a powerful influence on your health, and that miracles can happen through faith.
15. I already have a ton of supplements, do I have to buy new supplements from you?
I help patients to find those supplements that would make a difference towards improving their health. The most cost-effective approach is the approach that I try to create for you. If you have tried a ton of supplements and they have not been helpful, then perhaps they are not the right supplements for you, were not taken in the proper mix and dosages, or supplements may not be the right approach for you.
